Temple is full of events for people of all ages. An event coming up this weekend is the Hoagy’s Heroes Lone Star Six Shooter Charity Run. So if you have a motorbike, head on out and ride while supporting local charities!

Next, load up your Ford and head on over to the 5th Annual Battle of Temple Junction Civil War Reenactment. On May 18, prepare to relive the battles of the Civil War. Temple was not founded until many years after the War Between the States was over. The purpose of this event is to demonstrate how the battles were fought and how troops lived and trained during the war. There also are food and period vendors, called Sutlers, who will be selling their wares to the general public and the reenactors.

Near the end of the month, May 25, there is a free movie in the park event. This will take place at Miller Park within the heart of Temple. The featured film is The Lorax which is a movie based on a favorite children’s novel by Dr. Seuss. So bring blankets, chairs, snacks and the kids to this outdoor movie extravaganza. It is sure to provide lifelong memories with the family.

Ford Has Gone Green

Ford is embracing the eco-friendly trend and stepping up to the plate by creating new vehicles that use the latest in green technology in order to fulfill it’s vision of being a leader in producing fuel efficient vehicles that help keep the planet safe and save you money. This year Ford is introducing several new vehicles that meet these goals.
Fusion HybridFirst up is the Fusion Hybrid which features the newest in lithium-ion battery technology. With it’s third generation hybrid system, it can reach speeds of up to 60 miles per hour when driven in all-electric mode on the highway. It gets up to 47 miles per gallon, combined, and includes built-in real-time data that helps to improve fuel efficiency. Additionally, it’s won accolades as the greenest car in Canada.
The Fusion Energi is a hybrid that can drive, battery powered, for up to 20 miles. So if your trips are short, there’s no need to be stopping in at the pump on a regular basis. In fact, you can go more than 600 miles on one tank of fuel, which means that many people will only have to visit the gas station just once a month. To recharge the Energi, plug it in to a standard electrical socket for four hours to get a full charge. In addition to allowing your money to stay in your bank account, Ford has done its part to save the planet with its innovative design of this vehicle. Among the materials used in this car, there are over 24 pounds of recycled plastic, fabric and metal. Additionally, the car’s organic seat foam is made of soybeans, which saves more than 600,000 gallons of oil each year the vehicle is manufactured.
To get your hands on one of these, or to find out more about them, visit your Temple Ford dealer today. We’ve got a huge selection of new and pre-owned Fords that are available.

Ford Certified Pre-Owned Program

Thinking about buying a Ford, but just can’t afford the new car prices or insurance rates? Fear, not – you can still head down to your Texas Ford dealer and pick out a great used vehicle. We’re not just saying that – we have the proof to back it up. You see, every pre-owned vehicle comes with a thorough certified pre-owned program, essentially guaranteeing that drivers will have peace of mind in case they worry about anything going wrong after purchase.

Here’s a look at some of the highlights of the program and why you won’t have to worry if you purchase a used Ford car or truck:

  • Ford Certified Pre-Owned ProgramOverview: Each comes with a 172-point inspection to ensure it’s in tip-top shape before it even leaves the lot. Once it does, you’ll get 24-hour roadside service as well as a vehicle history report and warranty coverage regarding the powertrain and comprehensive for anything that might happen down the road.

Here’s a look at some of the specifics:

  • Inspection: As we told you in the overview, each has to take and pass a complete 172-point inspection in order to even be certified as a pre-owned vehicle. This inspection includes the likes of the hybrid components, under-the-hood components, diagnostics and more. If any one of the 172 points fail during the inspection, they’ll either have to be replaced or repaired before it can be certified.
  • Warranty: Every pre-owned certified vehicle comes with a one-year, or 12,000 mile comprehensive warranty that covers more than 500 vehicle components. Aspects that are covered include the engine, transmission, steering, AC and heating units, brakes, electrical components and rear and front wheel drives. That’s a warranty that gives the new owner of a pre-owned certified car a lot of peace of mind.
  • Other: There are a bevy of other variables to the Ford Certified Pre-Owned Program that are worth noting. The comprehensive warranty also covers new owners from a safety perspective as well, for up to one-year or 12,000 miles from the date of purchase. New pre-owned owners are also eligible for roadside assistance 24 hours a day, seven days a week for additional peace of mind. Other available services for additional purchase include towing, travel expense reimbursement, tire change services and lockout service and assistance.

So if you’re concerned about the quality of vehicle you’ll get if you buy used – you won’t have to worry if you buy a Ford. The program is designed to ensure that you’re getting the best quality vehicle for your dollar.

Preparing For A Trip

Ford cars and trucks have been used on road trips since the Model T first rolled out of the factory. In those days, the Model T was a basic vehicle that customers often customized to suit themselves. One family in Montana went on a road trip to Minnesota with a Model T that had camping boxes, shovels to dig out of the mud, extra tires, a few jugs of water for the radiator, and a hole in the floorboards with a flap that moved to cover the view of the passing road surface. When the mother asked what that hole was for, the dad said, “This way we don’t have to stop for bathroom breaks” and she asked, “what about the girls?”

They did have to stop, but that was a tradition in those years in the lonely West where there were no rest stops along the highway.DVD Playerfor your road trip. First, you have to consider who is going to be in the car. Are there kids going along? How old are they? Will any passengers or the driver have medical needs? Are you planning on stopping to eat or will you snack in the car?

Three things that are good for road trips are entertainment, refreshment, and comfort. What those categories look like is determined by the age and preference of the people in the car. You can do it yourself with a small cooler full of snacks and drinks, a list of games to play (count the cows!), and a map showing where the rest stops are along the route. Or, you can invest in accessories that make your vehicle customized to your needs.

Some of the custom features available through your Texas Ford Dealer will make your next trip much easier. A DVD system will prove worth every penny when the kids are tired of counting cows. The Trip Tunes Advanced turns your iPod with all its music & GPS capabilities into part of the vehicle’s stereo system and charges it at the same time. Seat covers and cargo area protectors keep the snacks from being part of the upholstery.

Even with all the leg room Ford cars and trucks offer, it is good to get out and walk around every few hours when you find you need a rest stop. What are your road trip must haves? Tell us your favorites in the comments below!

Ford Fusion

At your favorite Temple Ford Dealer,  we’ve got plenty of great vehicles to choose from. One of the most popular these days happens to be fuel efficient and a great to drive. The Ford Fusion has a sleek body that is longer and wider than the old compact style and gives a sportier look for those who don’t want to feel like they are driving their grandmother’s car. These new Ford models also offer better options than they used to.

Ford Fusion Want some power under the hood? Then you’ll appreciate the four cylinder 240 horsepower 2.0-liter turbo-charged engine that replaces the V6 engine in the standard models. The all-wheel drive performance keeps the tires on the road when using this power to maneuver around tight curves. Not many mid-sized sedans offer this feature!

If you’re anything like me, then fuel economy is important to you and you’ll want to check out the new hybrid version. These get a whopping 47 mpg on the road and the highway. You can drive from Boston to New York City and back on a tank full of gas.

There’s a load of other features as well. Sirius radio has become standard in all models. Fitting into tight parking spaces is made easier with the automated parking assistance system and there’s a blind spot detection system for those hard to see places. No more reaching over to switch dials and taking you eyes off the road – you can use Sync voice command to change channels with the MYFord touch feature that used to only be found on Ford’s Lincoln models.

Heated seats are also a nice feature during the cold weather season. Surrounded by air bags, the level of safety will make comfortable driving children in the car. For those who like to drive smaller vehicles may want to check out a Ford Fusion before they decide on what to purchase. Many people might be surprised at how different they now are from the original ones made a couple of years ago.
