The History Of Ford

Henry Ford was born on July 30, 1863 in Dearborn, Michigan. He was the first surviving son of William and Mary Ford. At the age of 15, Ford’s rapidly growing curiosity of mechanics led him to disassemble a pocket watch and then reassemble the watch to perfection. His friends and family called him the watch repairman. Henry Ford always knew he wanted to do more with his life than work on a farm like his father. He was always working on steam engines or as an apprentice mechanist. His first big break happened after he became an engineer with the Edison Illuminating Company. He had so much time and money that he designed his first vehicle in his spare time; the quadricycle.

In 1903, after a slow beginning as the Cadillac Motor Company, Ford Motor Company was established. About 5 years later, the Model T was built and they sold over 15 million cars in just 19 years. Most Americans then learned to drive this model vehicle. Ford Motors is one of the few companies that survived the Great Depression. Today, Ford is the second largest U.S.-based auto maker and the fifth largest in the world. They produce automobiles and commercial vehicles under the Ford brand and luxury vehicles under the brand of Lincoln.

Ford Has Gone Green

Ford is embracing the eco-friendly trend and stepping up to the plate by creating new vehicles that use the latest in green technology in order to fulfill it’s vision of being a leader in producing fuel efficient vehicles that help keep the planet safe and save you money. This year Ford is introducing several new vehicles that meet these goals.

First up is the Fusion Hybrid which features the newest in lithium-ion battery technology. With it’s third generation hybrid system, it can reach speeds of up to 60 miles per hour when driven in all-electric mode on the highway. It gets up to 47 miles per gallon, combined, and includes built-in real-time data that helps to improve fuel efficiency. Additionally, it’s won accolades as the greenest car in Canada.

The Fusion Energi is a hybrid that can drive, battery powered, for up to 20 miles. So if your trips are short, there’s no need to be stopping in at the pump on a regular basis. In fact, you can go more than 600 miles on one tank of fuel, which means that many people will only have to visit the gas station just once a month. To recharge the Energi, plug it in to a standard electrical socket for four hours to get a full charge. In addition to allowing your money to stay in your bank account, Ford has done its part to save the planet with its innovative design of this vehicle. Among the materials used in this car, there are over 24 pounds of recycled plastic, fabric and metal. Additionally, the car’s organic seat foam is made of soybeans, which saves more than 600,000 gallons of oil each year the vehicle is manufactured.

EcoBoost Challenge

The 2013 Ecoboost Challenge is coming to Houston. At your Temple Ford Dealer, drivers can take the challenge and compare their current vehicle to the Ford EcoBoost engine. Ford is quickly becoming a leader in the green car industry and wants everyone to know why. This month long sales intitative includes a number of events that are a fun way of taking part in the challenge.

The new 1.5 liter EcoBoost engine was just released last Friday, and already is proving that it is miles ahead of the competition. Customers are highly encouraged to come out to and take the test to see how their current vehicle compares to the new engine. They can see how well the style and handling of the vehicles compare to one another. So far, customers have been pleasantly surprised by the results.
