October Events

The month of October brings lots of events and activities for adults and children alike. The area around Temple has loads of things to do and places to visit during this fantastic month. Hop in your Ford and head on out to all of the fairs and festivals with friends and family.

One great family event is Howl at the Harvest Moon on October 19th. You can dress up in costume and head down a trail for treats. Make sure to bring a flashlight though. You may howl at the moon if you like but this is optional. The only cost to attend is one non-perishable canned good per person that will be donated to the local food bank.

Pool parties are always fun and what better way to spend Halloween than with an indoor pool celebration? On October 25th from 6 pm until 8 pm, join your friends and family for the Halloween Splash Bash at Sammons Park for some wicked fun. There will be games, music and candy for everyone. It is only $15 per family.

Also on the 25th will be a Pumpkin Decorating event at the Wilson Park Recreation Center from 6 pm until 8 pm. How will you decorate your pumpkin? Silly face? Scary face? Will it have lights? You decide! Come with friends and family and enjoy decorating a pumpkin for just $12.

If you’re looking for something a little more low-key, the 47th Annual Salado Art Fair will return on October 26thand 27th. There will be dozens of artists on site and a few food vendors as well. Delight at viewing a variety of oil paintings, watercolors, photographs and more. This event attracts thousands of visitors every year. Admission is just $5 per adult. Children under 12 are free.

The Main Street Fright Fest will be happening on October 31st right on Main Street in Temple. There will be vendors lining the streets with crafts, goods and food. There will be a costume contest, a line dance and even a bounce house. This is a free event and will be from 5 pm until 8:30 pm.

Your friends at Johnson Brothers Ford hope you have a fun and safe October no matter what you decide to do.
