Decorating Your Ford This Halloween

Decorating for Halloween is becoming more elaborate than ever. Now people are looking for new and exciting ways to spread the Halloween spirit. So why not decorate your Ford car or truck? Here are some spooky and festive Halloween decorating ideas to give your vehicle and passengers a real holiday feel.

The Halloween mask display. Fill the ledge of your backseat with stuffed animals that peer out of the back of the window. A lot of people think this is creepy enough. Go one step further and add masks, if you can, from your local costume shop to one, two, or however many you desire of the stuffed animals.

Cover your seats with the traditional Halloween colors of black and orange. This will not only help get your vehicle in the spirit, but will protect your car from spills and stains. This can be exceedingly helpful if you regularly transport a car full of little goblins and ghosts.

Festive car magnets can be found at local shops. Many large car decals might have classic spooky Halloween images and shapes like pumpkins, ghosts or tombstones. This will provide the outer part of your car with great holiday décor.

Fall scented potpourris add a world of imagination to your car. Just a small handful of pumpkin and orange spice scented potpourri in a small cheese cloth. Tie it up with a string and hang it on your mirror. The potpourri will fill your car with the aromas of autumn which greet you warmly every time you enter the car.

You can also buy some fall scented candles such as apple pie, cranberry, and pumpkin spice. Just place the candle in a glass container in your cup holder. The heat of the day will warm the candle and release the scent naturally. You should *never* light this candle inside your vehicle, however.

Halloween pictures. A picture of your friends, family, children, nieces or nephews, dressed up in their Halloween finest from years past, can be placed on the panels or dashboards. This will remind you of all the fun Halloween has in store for you, while creating a enjoyable anticipation for the holiday that many people look forward to all year.

Have a fun and safe holidy from your friends at Johnson Brothers Ford.

Drive 4 UR School

Johnson Brothers Ford is always looking to help a worthy cause. We are always on the look out to see what organization we can help or be a part of.

Currently, we have teamed up with the Temple High School Choral Department to raise money for the Drive 4 UR School program. This is a Ford designed effort to help local companies raise money for their local schools throughout the country.

Drive 4 UR School was started to help schools raise money for their extracurricular activities as well as sports programs. The way it works is simple. Regular men and women from the area walk into the participating dealership and test drive a car on their lot. After the drive, $20 is donated by Ford Motor Company to the school raising the funds. This continues throughout the day of the event and the school can raise up to $6,000. The more people who take a test drive, the more money can be raised. All you have to do is test drive an amazing vehicle!

This is a great opportunity to expose the community to the Ford and Lincoln brand while promoting goodwill. You can test drive almost any vehicle during this event except for the Crown Victoria and the E-series. The event will take place on Saturday, October 12.

A few of the options you can test drive are the new C-Max, Fiesta, Fusion, Focus, Edge, Escape, and more. The 2013 Ford C-Max is a hybrid vehicles that has a 2.0L IVCT engine and gets 45 mpg city and 40 mpg highway. With these numbers, you can expect to receive at least 500 miles to the tank. The technology in this car is fantastic. The Sync with MyFord Touch comes standard in this vehicle as does the Intelligent Access with push button start and is HD radio ready.

The Fiesta is a lower priced option but that doesn’t mean it has less features. Available engine options can still get you up to 30mpg city and 41 mpg highway. There are 10 different vibrant colors to choose from as well as 7 different fuel-efficient models so you can personalize your Fiesta. You can customize just about any aspect of this vehicle including the seats.

Visit Johnson Bros in Temple on October 12 to help a great cause and drive an amazing new car.

Pool parties are always fun and what better way to spend Halloween than with an indoor pool celebration? On October 25th from 6 pm until 8 pm, join your friends and family for the Halloween Splash Bash at Sammons Park for some wicked fun. There will be games, music and candy for everyone. It is only $15 per family.

Also on the 25th will be a Pumpkin Decorating event at the Wilson Park Recreation Center from 6 pm until 8 pm. How will you decorate your pumpkin? Silly face? Scary face? Will it have lights? You decide! Come with friends and family and enjoy decorating a pumpkin for just $12.

Delight at viewing a variety of oil paintings, watercolors, photographs and more. This event attracts thousands of visitors every year. Admission is just $5 per adult. Children under 12 are free.

Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge

Jump into your Ford from Johnson Brothers and head south to The Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge. This area is a park that spreads out over 46,000 acres of secure land for rare species, most of which are birds. This wildlife refuge offers the best experiences for bird watching in Texas. Two endangered song bird species can be seen here; the black-capped vireo and the golden-cheeked warbler.

Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge is open from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. Stop by the refuge headquarters to speak with staff and volunteers who will provide you with brochures, maps and checklists and can also update you on what’s going on in the refuge that day.

The refuge is known for hosting many outstanding and educational events throughout the year that are fun for all ages. You can expect anything from guided nature walks to an array of workshops and festivals. The goal is to bring family and friends together for an educational and fun experience of how to further protect the endangered species and habitat of the golden-cheeked warbler and the black-capped vireo.

Explore the many miles of trails through the Balcones Canyonsland National Wildlife Refuge. Visit the Shin Oak Observation Deck to spot the black-capped vireo habitat. This is the best public viewing area for the vireos in the refuge. It contains available parking and an observation deck.

Visit Warbler Vista and Sunset Deck on the south side of the refuge. There are 2.5 miles of trails and outstanding sights. Explore three different trails while appreciating the prime golden-cheek warbler habitat. You can cruise through in your Lincoln or hike to the Sunset Deck that offers sights of Lake Travis which provides an excellent opportunity to listen for the golden cheeked warbler among other birds.

Take the kids and head out to Post Oak Creek trail which is a relaxed .4 mile long primitive path that brings you along Post Oak Creek. It offers ideal opportunities to see migratory birds. This easy to walk fun trail is located at the Refuge’s Headquarters so you can’t miss it.

As with any park, you are visiting for the day so be sure to bring extra drinking water, a hat and proper footwear. Embrace the rule of what you pack in, pack out. Have a fun and safe trip from your friends at Johnson Bros.

Ford’s Pre-Certified Program

At Johnson Brothers Ford, we aim to give the public the very best in the used cars we put out on our lot. All of our pre-owned vehicles are put through a rigorous 172-point inspection and also come with 24 hour roadside assistance. When you purchase a pre-owned certified vehicle from us, you are buying peace of mind. With that, you also receive a free copy of the vehicle’s history report and powertrain and comprehensive limited warranty coverage. Let’s take a look at what each area that we check covers.

If a car, truck, SUV or any other vehicle we test with the 172-point inspection doesn’t pass, we will not certify it. It’s that simple. Anything that we test that does not meet the strict criteria is either repaired or replaced. We check everything including; the vehicle’s history, under the hood, perform a road test, any hybrid components, we inspect both the interior and exterior of the vehicle, check the under body and run a comprehensive diagnostic on the vehicle.

Every pre-owned certified Ford comes with a 12 month/12,000 mile comprehensive limited warranty. The warranty mentioned includes protection of over 500 parts. The following list is just a small sample; the engine, brakes, steering, transmission, electrical repairs, emissions, Ford audio, air conditioning and heating, front and rear suspension and lots more. You also receive a 7 year/100,000 mile powertrain limited warranty.

The need for roadside assistance is rare but does happen. In the event you need help or are stranded, simply dial the provided 800 number. They are able to assist you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. This service is complimentary after purchasing one of our fine certified pre-owned vehicles. A short list of services they provide are as follows; towing assistance, rental car reimbursement, fuel delivery, flat tire change, jump starting and lockout assistance. They provide their services for all of the United States and Canada.

As previously mentioned, you automatically are presented with the vehicle’s history report. You will be able to see any information about the vehicle that has been reported. All of the vehicles considered here before being certified are less than 6 years old with less than 80,000 miles on the odometer.

So before you buy a pre-owned vehicle from anyone else, check out the wonderful selection at Johnson Bros.

2014 Ford Fiesta Spotlight

Ford Fiesta at Johnson Bros.

Johnson Brothers Ford is your new car superstore. We have all of the cars, SUVs and trucks you love and more. Every now and then, we like to highlight specific makes and models to help broaden horizons while shedding light on a new car. Today, we want to bring the 2014 Ford Fiesta to the front and share some of the great features this car offers.

First off, this car is sleek in design and a beauty to behold. This 4-door sedan comes standard equipped with leather and metallic trim, keyless entry, MyKey, AUX input jack and a multifunctional message center on an LCD screen. Another popular standard feature this car has is the Sync with Sync Applink. This is a voice activated system so you can control your favorite apps while driving. You can listen to iHeartRadio, Slacker, Pandora and more or even hear your incoming tweets.

The outside of the car has just as many impressive features. The new Easy Fuel Capless fuel filler lets you simply fill up without the hassle of a fuel cap. This also allows for less fumes and emissions to be released since it seals automatically. The power mirrors on the Fiesta also have an integrated blind spot mirror. This is undoubtedly handy for keeping clear of cars in areas you can’t see clearly. As far as handling goes, this car is wonderful. It has Hill Start Assist, electric power-assisted steering and a 4-wheel anti-lock brake system. All of these things are standard on this car!

The Fiesta is driven by a 1.6L Ti-VCT I-4 engine that puts out 27mpg city and 38mpg highway. And for those of us who like the feel of a manual transmission, this car also has the PowerShift six-speed automatic transmission with SelectShift. This option delivers similar performance and efficiency that a manual transmission would.

Safety was big on the list when they designed this car. With that in mind, they added seven standard air bags, side-curtain airbags, a driver’s knee airbag, child-safety rear door locks, a tire pressure monitoring system and the SOS post-crash alert system. There are also a range of options you can add to your Ford Fiesta like tinted windows, MyFord Touch and more.

To see this amazing car for yourself, stop in at Johnson Bros. and have a look!

Currently, we have been given the chance to hold an event for the Ralph Wilson Youth Club on October 17, 2013. This event will feature games and activities for the kids attending and will also have food for everyone.

This Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping children grow, learn, and have fun during the summer. Unfortunately, a highway is being constructed right through their building. The community has come together to build them a new one, but are in need of more funding. Because of this, Johnson Bros. wants your help in raising $1,000 for them. We are donating $250 and giving an additional dollar for every new fan on each of our Facebook pages. All you have to do is visit our pages and click “like.” Come help your community!

The Ralph Wilson Youth Club is a recreational facility for boys and girls between 5 and 14 years of age. The Club has two separate clubhouse areas that divide the children into boys and girls. The boys  typically enjoy activities in one of two large game rooms that include foosball, table hockey, basketball, and bumper pool. There is also a movie room for relaxing downtime and a video arcade with popular video game consoles such as Xbox, Wii, and Playstation. There is also a gym for various sports and games.

The girls have a lot of the same areas and activities the boys do, but they also have a kitchen for cooking classes, a library, and an arts and crafts room.

The members of the Ralph Wilson Youth Club have the opportunity to partake in classes and field trips per the schedule for the summer. Some of the classes offered for members of RWYC are cooking, an art lab, Amtrak train, and keychain and jewelry making. There are swimming lessons and sports clinics as well that children can take part in. The field trips for the members of the Club visit places like Lion’s Junction Water Park, Innerspace Caverns, and Summer Fun.

Back to School Getaways

Summer is winding down and autumn will be here soon, which  means that students are heading back to school. Though there are still plenty of chances for quick weekend activities between homework, band practice, and football games, time is definitely more of a commodity now that school is back in session. Here are some ideas for a quick getaway:

The Railroad and Heritage Museum in Temple is the perfect escape for the family. The museum was completed in 1911 and features a working Amtrak Station. It takes you on a history of the railroad that relates back to local and regional past. The museum regularly hosts new temporary exhibits and educational programs. The antique railroad equipment displayed include railroad passenger cars, a caboose, and three locomotives.

The mission of Temple’s Railroad and Heritage Museum is to continually preserve, collect, and exhibit the antiquity of railroading in all of Southwest United States while passing down the history for generations to come. Take a trip back in time and explore the exhibits that are devoted to pioneer farm, ranch, and home life. Study the tools and clothing and experience the early days of railroading in Texas. Open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M. Admission is $4.00 for ages 13-59 and $2.00 for kids and seniors.

Temple Lake Park is a great way to spend the day! Come cool off on the 172 acres along Lake Belton. Load up your fishing gear, picnic basket, and sunscreen. If you have a boat, bring it, too! Get ready for a full day at the lake with the family. This park offers an array of amenities with over 62 picnic tables, grills, two-lane boat ramps, a kid friendly roped-off swimming area, hot water showers, restrooms, volley ball court, basketball court, and playgrounds.

If that isn’t enough, Temple Lake is known for providing some of the best fishing and boating that Central Texas has to offer. Popular fish include the hybrid striped bass, largemouth bass, white bass, catfish, and sunfish. Even if you don’t have a boat, anglers are welcomed! You can observe wildlife such as deer, turkey, and other small game. Temple Lake Park offers one group shelter called Temple’s Pavilion that must be reserved ahead of time. The park is day use only and no camping is allowed.

Get out there and have some last minute fun! And don’t forget to visit Johnson Bros. for all of your car and truck service needs in Temple!
